Bio
Tracy Algar is a South African landscape painter working primarily in oil on board. Based in Aberdeen in the Great Karoo, her plein air and studio paintings record the changing light, vast skies, and rugged vegetation of the regional landscape.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I like to work outdoors on-site along farm roads and quiet stretches of the Camdeboo countryside where I capture the immediate atmosphere of the landscape. This is part of my practice that helps me refine larger works in my Aberdeen studio. My mark-making emphasises texture, structural light, and a personal response to the environment.
